Blended to showcase classic Washington Syrah, this wine draws from two Horse Heaven Hills vineyards and one Wahluke Slope vineyard. Brilliant deep ruby color with purple/red interior. Complex aromatics of blackberries and roasted cacao bean accentuate this concentrated Syrah. In the mouth this wine leads off with dark bramble fruits, and meaty aromas, followed by olive stones, spice, and violets. Substantial weight is brightened by a backbone of acidity and ripe tannins. The tiny hint of Mourvedre blended adds a bit of brightening plum flavors. An intriguing combination of finesse and power that is sure to improve over time.
Our Southern Rhone inspired blend was selected from our most balanced and elegant barrels from the ‘08 vintage. Cuvée Elena delivers red berry fruits, fig and delicate perfume, complemented by hints of raspberry drops, spice and garrigue with graceful length. This wine is mouth filling and intensely satisfying with with a fine, silky finish. The bright raspberry of Grenache is complemented by the classic notes of sweet spice, and sauvage from the Mourvedre, all tied together with the rich garrigue aromas of Syrah, Counoise and Cinsault.
Nicknamed the “Espresso Block,” McKinley Springs gives us some of the most intense Syrah we produce. Deep purple/black color, aromas of blackberry, baking spices, roasted coffee and chocolate. Super concentrated flavors balanced with great natural acidity. Rich, yet refined, a hint of berry aromatics give evidence to the Viognier while the finish lingers on with sweet, rounded fruit characteristics. Generous and sexy, this wine will age gracefully for many years.
Planted on what was the edge of the great Missoula floods, this steep and stony hillside vineyard is layered with gravel and caliche and has unencumbered southern exposure. Aged in French oak barrels. Layers of plum, cassis, clove, coffee bean and black pepper aromas are complemented by a full, rich mouthfeel and bright finish. This wine is approachable now and will also age gracefully for many years.
With a foundation based on the old vines from Celilo and incorporating a newer planting at an adjacent vineyard on Underwood Mountain, this 100% Pinot Noir shows rich ruby red color and opulent nose starting with strawberry and cranberry aromas, mingling with fresh cracked black pepper and rose petals. The palate flows through red raspberry, pie cherry and subtle hints of nutmeg. The overall impression of juicy, red fruit is complemented by bright acidity. The wine is beautiful, with enough acid and silky tannins to really shine with 3-5 years bottle age. Here is a wine that proves great Pinot Noir can be grown in Washington.
